Indigenous Mind Masters and Ph.D. Programs

Indigenous Mind advanced degrees offer a sacred circle in which students engage deeply with their ancestors, the story of their people, and their homelands. Native Elders help in this process. Course work and Intensives, including a journey to an Ancestral homeland, are enhanced by the innovative use of technology to create a ‘witness’ to one’s process. Taken together, these elements unite in a catalytic, transformative learning experience. We are delivered to the door of ‘New Consciousness’ called for in the indigenous histories and prophecies around the world–a consciousness that ushers in a life vibrant with renewal and Earth-honoring practices.

Indigenous Mind ProgramThe Indigenous Mind Program began as an academic ‘Concentration’ and has now become a central pillar of Wisdom University. Global climate change, environmental and human concerns have thrust the geo-centered program to the very forefront of forward-thinking curriculum and research.

Living what it teaches, the Indigenous Mind Program makes extensive use of both technology and ritual to bring students to the threshold of their own indigenous ancestry, homeland, and traditional ways of knowing–to the remembrance of Indigenous Mind. This involves a profound shift in consciousness, in ways of knowing and living, and requires clear minded commitment to biophilia–a love of life.

Traditional ways of knowing help us ground ourselves in who we are, and in our responsibilities to future generations. Students bring healing first to themselves and then to their families, their ancestors, and ultimately to the earth.

This Program has been developed by Dr. Apela Colorado, a pioneer and recognized leader and Elder in the field of Indigenous Mind. She is responsible for the over-all direction of the program and will serve as Major Advisor to all students in the Masters program, as well as for those interested in working with her to obtain a Ph.D. in Indigenous Mind
